Nybon Marine Anchor Windlass

Anchor Winch ( Windlass), the windlass is used to retract and release anchors and anchor chains. The windlass is usually installed on the main deck of the fore and stern part of the ship for anchoring and mooring of the ship. A marine anchor windlass is a machine that restrains and manipulates the anchor chain and/or rope on a boat, allowing the anchor to be raised and lowered. A notched wheel engages the links of the chain or the rope. A "trawl windlass" is a similar machine that restrains or manipulates the trawl on a commercial fishing vessel. 

Arrangement of Nybon Windlass on ship:

When a ship is equipped with a horizontal windlass, the distance from the center of the chain drum at the deck exit to the axis of the windlass sprocket should not be less than 12-18 times the chain-link length (or 48-72 times the diameter of the chain). The wrap angle of the anchor chain when passing through the sprocket (the central angle corresponding to the arc length of the anchor chain around the sprocket) should not be less than 115°. Usually,when determining the position of the windlass, the angle (downward) between the direction of the chain drawn from the sprocket and the horizontal plane is not less than 15°.

When setting up the mooring winch, the distance between the outlet center of the deck cable drum and the axis of the winch should not be more than 12-16 times the chain-link length (or 48-72 times the diameter of the chain).

When the anchor winch is not equipped with a rope arrangement, the distance between the axis of the winch drum and the fairlead shall not be less than 10 times the length of the drum.
